The Repentant Demon 2 The Repentant Demon Trilogy edition by Samantha Johns Paranormal Romance eBooks

After reading the first book of this trilogy on a whim, I found I needed to know what happened next. I had to buy this book to see how Cal lived life as a human, I needed to know if he could stay repentant, see if a leopard really could change his spots.

The author did a terrific job of letting us see the world through "newborn" Cal. I can't imagine how strange that would be. There were times I laughed out loud.

At first I thought that Abigail was too accepting of Cal, I myself would have gone running down the street. But I realized that was part of the story ... her faith and acceptance ... her unconditional love of others. Sometimes faith leaves us feeling vulnerable.

I think I loved this book even more than the first. I bought the third one right away. I'm absolutely a fan.

The Repentant Demon 2 The Repentant Demon Trilogy edition by Samantha Johns Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

In this second installment, Cal is reintroduced to Abigail (the human who was the seed of his desire for repentance and transformation), who shelters him while he explores his humanity...

The author purposely slows down the narrative, whilst subtly prepping the reader for something more for the final chapter. And while Cal, as a human, has his intellect intact, it is the intellect of a demon... a demon who has watched humans, and existed for millennia...

Note This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
This book was a lot better for me. It seemed to flow better than the first book in the series. I give the book 3 stars.

I did not struggle to stay focused on this book. I wanted to finish reading it. I really enjoyed seeing how Cal adjusted to being human and learning about humanity in general. It was also funny at times. I liked that all the knowledge he had as a demon was retained such as all languages and memories from ancient times. I enjoyed watching Cal slowing warming up to humanity instead of hating or being jealous of us.

Since this series started out with religion being important to the main character it made sense to continue this in the second book also. This was continued and Cal struggled to always obey and do things the right way. However my only problem was Abigail stayed pure when it came to sin all her life but then all of the sudden it seemed like she just forgot that and gave in. The sin, of course, was lust. It just seemed abrupt and there was no build up to it but then once it was done they did not ask forgiveness either. I just found it odd.

This story is the buildup to the terrorist plot with it slowly being revealed and you still don't find out all of it. The next story is how we handle it or not and if and how Cal and Abigail survive. There were several big decisions they had to make in this story and it really showed how much Cal changed and grew as a character. I can't wait to find out how the author handles this and where it goes from here.

*I received this free from the author in return for an honest review.*
The first book starts off with a great idea a ancient demon comes to the realization that he is weary of trying to influence people to turn away from God and instead go to hell. He watches a 'pure' young woman who is kind and will not sin and begins to admire her. He also has met people like her before and saw them forgive atrocities done to them. He begins to want forgiveness from God. The story gets really interesting in Iraq and the scenes between Doug, one of the main characters, and the Iraqi family he loves are very inspiring. Abby, the female character is well written. Her love for history is well detailed and her love of discovery takes you with her. Sounds good right? This great start to a great idea gets TOTALLY DERAILED by the author's hidden agenda. As a Christian it really bothered me (I also read this 2nd book and it gets EVEN WORSE). Samantha Johns, the author, first sickens you with an overly discriptive rape of a young girl from the rapist's point of view and the 'pleasure' of raping and stabbng her while he rapes her is written like porn for rapists. Then she kills off the main character when a woman in the group bites off his penis (in GRAPHIC DETAIL) after she "forces" him to have an orgasm and slits his throat with her sharp nails. You'll need a barf bag after this point. The story falls apart after this. The demon is determined to contact Abby while she is grieving the death of Doug, to pray for him and ask God to forgive him. This character just believes him without any build up of why she would do that and prays for him. Slam-bam, an angel appears to him and turns him into a human that looks just like Superman, a goofy turn to a rather serious book. DON'T BOTHER WITH THE 2ND BOOK, which I made the mistake of reading. I still feel a bit nauseous. The author's agenda becomes abundantly clear she uses this now daffy story of the demon, now super-handsome and oh-so-buff Cal, and Abby, and the people who instantly believe them to promote her ideas of EXTREME PARANOIA against the government and pure evil EVERYWHERE. God is not at all celebrated here. Oh, there's one snarky angel. And there's lots of explicit un-married sex because this is now a romance novel too (gag)! Abby begins to sin big time (but God understands) with all kinds of identity theft for Cal, and so does the cop and priest who assist them (completely destroying the premise of sin in her first book). She also presents a highly legalistic view of Salvation that you only have to act good to get into heaven (The Bible explicitly says that doesn't work), and that you better watch those demons because EVEN IF YOU'RE SAVED GOD CAN'T PROTECT YOU. By the way, I detest the philosophy that presents evil or devils as being stronger than God or that they have more influence than God, so you better be very afraid every waking moment of your pitiful life, ugh!!! The SECOND BOOK details the plans of shady Arab students putting together a massive attack on 33 nuclear power plants on the East coast that the main characters, the government, the angels and God ALL know about, but who cares, it's gonna happen anyway, but at least now pregnant Abby (finally married to Cal) can fly safely off to the West Coast. The snarky angel tells Cal he can be an angel of God again, or be instantly transported with Abby and the 'baby' to Heaven to not endure the destruction, or stay on Earth with the rest of us rotten humans to suffer an apocalypse and the complete destruction of the United States and then the world. Cal chooses to fight on Earth AFTER the fall of humanity, while safely on the West coast so he and Abby don't die with millions and millions of people in the attacks on the nuclear power plants. The third book is presumably about Cal and Abby going to war against evil. This is a sexually, politically, and spiritually deranged book series. I think Samantha Johns should get some serious therapy and sit down and really read the Bible.
After reading the first book in this series I could not wait to find out what happened next. I really like the interplay between the hero's past and his new desire for love and acceptance.

I'm now on to the third, and final, installment. I can't wait to read it, but I don't want the story to end.
The second book in the trilogy doesn't disappoint. It takes up where the first book left off seamlessly. The plot gets better and we learn more about the two main characters. This book gives a great glimpse into the struggle to do right versus doing wrong. I call it the great controversy. It is the struggle we all go through and we are all sinners. Its not talked about specifically, but this book shows what God's grace is all about.
